About this event
Description: Working from an Evidence-Based Practice perspective, this multi-day Motivational Interviewing training will augment and enrich your existing MI knowledge base while building a stronger MI skill set. Participants will learn about the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA) as a structure for MI conversations and have multiple opportunities to apply MI with volunteer clients. The conversations will be recorded, coded with the MICA, then debriefed with coaching feedback to improve Motivational Interviewing skills. The objective of this workshop is to assist those professionals who want the focused practice and feedback to become measurably competent in MI.
This training is tailored for providers of evidence-based programs such as the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP), Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME), and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize core constructs of fidelity-based MI through the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA)
- Practice and demonstrate key elements of MI-based conversations as measured by the MICA
- Identify targets for improvement in MI-based conversations
